Welcome to my about page!

My name is Denise Depenbrock, I am a school counselor, a wife and a mom of 2 boys – one is a junior in high school and one is a freshman in college.

So, why did I create this website?  I am really hoping to help make the process of “after high school” planning, a little easier. When my oldest son and I went on our first college visit, I realized that I totally messed up!   During the visit, when the recruiter said, “You should have done that his junior year”, that I had waited too long to begin this process of thinking about what he was going to do when he graduated.

Maybe it was denial that he was really growing up, maybe it was that I knew in the back of my mind that we had not saved enough for college or maybe it was life – and I just kept putting it off because I did not know where to begin.  Either way, it hit me, and I thought that I could make it a little easier for others by having  resources and tips from others who have been through this process! It really is a daunting task.   I am hoping that you will find different pages within my website that offer checklists, planners and other resources to help with the planning process of how to help your son or daughter, whether it is college or another route, I hope that this helps.   Please let me know if you have any tips or comments for others going through this.  Also, let me know if you have any suggestions to help me improve this website.   Thanks for checking it out!
